ABOUT
about
Hi, I’m Lisa, aka Dr. D, and I have a passion for helping teacher leaders like you create lasting change in classrooms while making your job a little bit easier. There has been a shift in the educational landscape.
Effective technology-enhanced teaching and learning is no longer an option; it is an essential strategy for improving education.
We both know what it means to be the campus geek —lots of time outside of your normal duties spent troubleshooting, teaching, organizing, and learning…just to name a few. As an educator for over 30 years, I’ve worn numerous hats…classroom teacher, tech leader, grant writer, PD creator, consultant, projects lead,… you name it, I’ve probably juggled it. And while I loved the work, I also know what it’s like to give so much that you lose time for what matters most.
That’s why I created EdTech Pencil Box — to support teacher leaders with systems, tools, and strategies that spark innovation, empower educators, and create lasting impact while reclaiming time for what matters most. You don’t have to do it all alone. Let’s fill your pencil box with the things that save time and spark change.
If you’re curious how a classroom teacher with a love for design, leadership, and a dash (okay, a lot) of out-of-the-box thinking turned that into a full-blown mission—Support. Empower. Sparkle.—here’s a glimpse into the journey.
I’ve lived the balancing act...
…wearing too many hats, giving too much time, and learning (sometimes the hard way) how to create systems that serve both teachers and real life.
It’s why I do what I do: to help others lead with confidence, spark creativity, and still have time for what matters most.
Maybe it’s no surprise — I come from a long line of creativity and problem-solving. My mom is an artist, my dad an engineer… and I’ve always been the quirky in-between: dreaming, building, and finding better ways to make things work.
If you’re ready to bring fresh energy, strategy, and heart to your school or team — I’d love to work with you.

Story
Journey Highlights from Teacher to Creative CEO
The idea for EdTech Pencil Box started long before it had a name. As a child, I loved turning a folding TV tray into a desk for my dolls—teaching was stitched into my heart from the start. Years later in college, an assignment to write my philosophy of education initiated the ETPB spark with the opening sentence: “Education is like a pencil box—it’s only as good as what you put in it.”
That simple idea has followed me ever since. My first big “aha” came in a middle school hallway with a dusty closet, an old Apple computer, and a pondering question—how do I help my students fall in love with reading? I need more reading options to give them choices beyond our textbook. What I found tucked away in that closet wasn’t just an answer; it was a reminder that magic often hides in the most ordinary places. With a little curiosity and courage, we transformed our reading culture school-wide, and I was hooked on exploring methods of effectively integrating technology.
From there, the journey grew: leading PD sessions, building and managing student tech teams, consulting with schools, and eventually…my path lead where I never even imagined, I traded in my Mrs. D for Dr. D, and joined the College of Education and Human Sciences faculty at Louisiana Tech University to help nurture and lead the next generation of educators. Through every season, one truth has stayed steady—education still is like that pencil box. When we fill it with purpose, curiosity, and a little bit of sparkle, learning becomes something truly special.
What began as a classroom spark has grown into a full-blown mission—to support teacher leaders, empower innovation, and add a little extra sparkle to learning. Here’s a glimpse of how the story unfolded.
