Core 6

Analyze and evaluate local, state, and national policy and practice impacting schools
and school districts to ensure that P–12 students develop the knowledge, skills, and
values needed to become life-long learners

Evidence

Reflection

In this core, I analyzed how policy at multiple levels—local, state, and federal—shapes district practice and student opportunity. Through EDLE 736 – Geosocial Influences, I examined Federal Register 8 CFR 214.2 to understand compliance requirements, stakeholder impacts, and implementation considerations for school systems serving diverse communities.

The EDLE 705 Case Study on Inequality of Professional Development Opportunities highlighted how policy and resource allocation decisions can unintentionally widen instructional gaps. This work strengthened my ability to interrogate policies for equity implications and to recommend corrective actions that support teacher effectiveness and student learning.

My EDLE 530/710 projects on Online Professional Development and Digital Portfolios translated policy analysis into practice by designing structures that develop teacher capacity, document student growth, and promote reflective, life-long learning.

Collectively, these experiences advanced my capacity to evaluate policy, anticipate downstream effects on classrooms, and propose actionable strategies that align compliance with meaningful learning outcomes.
